crust

There are many ways we can categorize the layers of the Earth. The most common method for the inside of the Earth is based on chemical composition and splits it up into a crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core.

The Earth's Layers1.The crust: the top layer that includes the continental crust and oceanic crust.
2.The mantle: the largest layer; solid, yet moving, material.
3.The outer core: made of fast-flowing liquid, responsible for Earth's magnetic field.
4.The inner core: mostly solid iron.
