There are many ways we can categorize the layers of the Earth. The most common method for the inside of the Earth is based on chemical composition and splits it up into a crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core.

The outermost layer is crust and it makes about 1% of the volume of earth. Core is at the earth’s Centre and there are two types of core namely, outer core and inner core. Core occupies about 31% of earth’s volume.

Mantle is located between crust and core and it is the earth’s thickest layer. Mantle has been divided into upper mantle and mantle. Mantle layer occupies about 68% of earth’s volume.
