The primary function of leucoplast are as follows,

  • It is involved in synthesis of fatty acids and amino acids.
  • It is involved in storage of biochemical such as starches, proteins and lipids.
  • It lacks pigment thus has a large vacuole like structure which provides space for storage of substances.
  • It is involved in certain biosynthetic functions carried by the plant cells, as animal cell lack it.
