The Underlying principal of chromatography is "SELECTIVE ADSORBTION"

\underline{Definition\:of\:chromatography:-}

It is Defined as the process of separation of the individual components of a mixture based on their relative affinities towards the stationary and mobile phases.

\underline{Principal:-}

The samples are subjected to flow by a mobile liquid onto or thorough the stable stationary phase. The sample components are separated into fraction based on their relative affinity towards the two phase during their travel.

The fraction with greater affinity to stationary layer travels slower and shorter distance while that with less affinity travels faster and longer.

Hope it helps !
