The principle of an electric motor is based on the current carrying conductor which produces magnetic field around it. A current carrying conductor is placed perpendicular to the magnetic field so that it experiences a force.

FIGURE :--- In the above picture, we can see that the current carrying conductor is placed between the two magnets and is connected to the battery. When the battery is turned on, there is a flow of current in the conductor and magnetic field from the north to the south. By Fleming’s left hand rule, we understand that there is a downward and upward force acting on the conductor.
