VNTRs is the abbrevation of "variable number of tandem repeats". when  two unrelated person's profile was compared in single VNTR locus, usually their  are different.yet it is possible but rare that  two different individuals share same profile at one or more loci by chance. but ofcourse this is extremely rare.

VNTR, variable number tandem repeats is a family of genetic loci found in eukaryotes consisting of short sequences of DNA repeated in tandem arrays;  these arrays for humans are typically 1–5 kb.

VNTR loci result to form repetitive DNA and have proved beneficial in DNA fingerprinting, especially in forensic science related to humans.

Since each VNTR locus typically has bunch of alleles, the likelihood of two individuals human having identical sets of alleles for even a few such loci is very remote and very rare.

Hence, a DNA sample can be considered for to a particular person with a high degree of certainty.
