SOLUTION :

Given : Numbers are 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4

Total number of possible outcomes = 10

Average of the number = sum of numbers / total numbers

=  (1+2+2+3+3+3+4+4+4+4)/ 10

= 30/10

= 3

Let E = event of getting 3

Number of 3’s = 3

Number of outcome favourable to E = 3

Probability (E) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E) = 3/10

Hence, the probability that a number selected is the average of the numbers = 3/10.

average=sum of nos./total no
=1+2+2+3+3+3+4+4+4+4/10
=30/10=3
let probability of getting 1 is 1/10
probability of getting2 is 2/10=1/5
probability of getting3=3/10
probability of getting4=4/10=2/5
