Sperms are produced in testes in males. They travel through sperm duct and urethra( penis) in the form of semen and are ejaculated into the vagina. In females an ovum is released every month from the ovary. When the ovum is in the Fallopian tube , the sperms which were able to cross cervix and uterus , encounter with the ovum. Only one sperm fertilises the ovum which results in formation of zygote and marks the end of fertilisation. The formed zygote undergoes repeated division called cleavage to form foetus and gets implanted in the uterus.
