calcium sulphate hemihydrate is plaster of paris , the white powder of plaster of paris, when it gets mix up with the water and changes into the gypsum and set it as a hard mass so,
Due to this reason this is stored in an air tight container as the air contains moisture and this can cause the powder gypsum and convert it into the hard mass which make it useless.
