What is the process of manufacturing of aluminum

Hello Mate,
It takes about 4 lb (2 kg) of bauxite to produce 1 lb (0.5 kg) of aluminum metal. Aluminum is manufactured in two phases: the Bayer process of refining the bauxite ore to obtain aluminum oxide, and the Hall-Heroult process of smelting the aluminum oxide to release pure aluminum.

Bauxite is crushed, dried and ground in special mills where it is mixed with a small amount of water. This process produces a thick paste that is collected in special containers and heated with steam to remove most of the silicon present in bauxites. The ore is loaded into autoclaves and treated with lime–caustic soda.

Hope this helps you

The Hall–Héroult process is the major industrial process for smelting aluminium. It involves dissolving aluminium oxide in molten cryolite, and electrolysing the molten salt bath, typically in a purpose-built cell.
