After fertilization the zygote starts moving down the oviduct. During the first eight weeks after fertilization the baby is called the embryo. From Eid weeks after fertilization till birth the developing baby is called the foetus.
The zygote begins to undergo nuclear and cell division over and over again to form a ball of cells, which attaches itself to the uterine wall. This process in which the zygote attaches itself to the uterine wall is called implantation. The zygote grows and divides repeatedly to develop into an embryo.
The embryo is attached to the uterus through a structure cal placenta and gets Oxygen and nutrients from the mother's blood through the placenta. The embryo is connected to the placenta by a cord-like structure called and umbilical cord.
To develop full in the baby stays and grows inside the mother's cute status for about 40 weeks. This period is called gestation period. When the foetus is fully developed the mother give birth to the baby.
The act or process of giving birth is called parturition.
