A weather or sounding balloon is a balloon (specifically a type of high-altitude balloon) that carries instruments aloft to send back information on atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity and wind speed by means of a small, expendable measuring device called a radiosonde.

Hope it helps you

➡️The size of a weather balloon increases at higher altitudes is due to the decrease in atmospheric pressure.✔️

➡️We know that atmospheric pressure decreases with height.✔️

➡️So, pressure at higher altitudes is much lower than the pressure at sea level.✔️

➡️As pressure is inversely proportional to volume (Boyel’s Law), therefore, as the pressure will decrease, volume will increase.✔️

➡️All the gas molecules inside the balloon push from the inside (which make it bigger) and those outside it (the atmosphere) push on from the outside (which make it smaller). ✔️

➡️These two effects balance to give a certain shape.✔️

➡️At higher altitudes, the air is less dense and only fewer gas molecules hit the outside of the balloon than at lower altitude but you have the same amount of gas trapped inside the balloon.✔️

➡️This shifts the balance between the opposing effects and the balloon increases.✔️
