Sound:-

Sound required a medium for its propagation a vibrating body cause vibration in the particles of the surrounding medium which travels in a form of wave with a certain speed depending upon the density in the elasticity of the medium .

  • These vibration reach our year sound is heard our ears are sensitive only to a limited range of frequencies from 20 Hz to 20000 Hz which is a called the audible range of frequency .
  • The sound of frequency above 20000 Hz is called ultrasonic.
  • The sound of frequency below 20 Hz is called infrasonic.

Some extra information:-

  • When a sound wave travels in a medium the maximum displacement of the particle of the medium on either side of its mean position is called amplitude.
  • The time taken by particle of a medium to complete its one vibration is called time period.
  • The number of vibration made by a particle of medium in 1 second is called frequency.
