What is the range of the functions

(I)root x-1

(II) |x-1|-3

(I) f(x)=√x-1


As per the definition of the square root function, we must have f(x)≥0. This will happen when x=1, because f(1)=0. There is no upper limit. The function is forever increasing. (The rate of increase keep decreasing, though.) Hence, the range is [0,∞).
