Respiration is the process in which we inhale the oxygen gas and exhale the carbon dioxide gas. It is the process that provide oxygen gas to living organism.

A healthy person breathe 12-20 times per minute. Hence the normal ‘respiration rate’ for a person is 12 to 20 breaths per minute at rest condition. It may increase during exercise or some other emergency conditions that may also increase the blood pressure.
