Given

  • 8 grams of  CH_4

  • 2.5 moles of  CO_2

To Find

Ratio of their moles at NTP.

Concept

At NTP, 1 mole of all the gas occupies the same volume V and V = 22.4 litre.

Solution

Molar mass of  CH_4 = 16 gram.

Hence, number of moles in 8 gram  CH_4 =   \frac{8}{16}  =   \frac{1}{2}  =

Now,

Let volume of 1 mole of  CH_4 = Volume of  CO_2 = V.

=> Volume of   \frac{1}{2}  mole  CH_4 =   \frac{V}{2}

Hence, the ratio of volume of   \frac{1}{2}  mole  CH_4 and 1 mole  CO_2 =  \frac{ \frac{v}{2} }{v} =   \frac{1}{2}  Ans.
