Hi,

The first thing I have noted in this question is that some information is missing,

the question should read as; What is the reaction of electrolysis of barium hydroxide using nickel as a catalyst?

Therefore we can say that pure hydrogen gas can be prepared via the electrolysis of warm solution of barium hydroxide.

This is normally done using platinum or nickel electrodes (these are inert electrodes).

But you need to appreciate the fact that water does not conduct electricity very well therefore we electrolyse aqueous solution of barium hydroxide instead.
