the reaction to make vanaspati ghee or vegetable oil is addition reaction.
CH2=CH2+H2 gives CH3—CH3 which is saturated.
This reaction takes place in presence of some catalysts like nickel or palladium metals.

Vanaspati ghee or Vegetable oil is made by the Hydrogenation process and the reaction that is used to make it is called addition reaction.

Fatty acids (unsaturated carbon compounds) having double or triple bonds are saturated by adding hydrogen to them. As the degree of saturation increases, the oil becomes more hydrogenated. Vanaspati ghee is one of the most widely used edible oils in the world.

CH2=CH2+H2 converted to CH3—CH3 is an example of addition reaction.
