Screw gauge works on a principle, by this principle it helps to convert the larger ones into smaller ones by using the rotation of screw. By linear movement in the primary scale, this one likewise amplifies the smaller dimensions and changes them into the bigger ones.

By using the above theory we are calculating the reading of the micrometer screw gauge. In generally micrometer screw gauge is pitch that pitch in this diagram is,

Pitch= 1mm

And number of divisions is 100

And least count, L.C=0.01mm

By using above values we are going to calculate the final reading of screw gauge

That means, Final reading= main scale reading + L.C ( 30 division)

Here we have taken division 30,

Final reading= 2+0.01(30)=2.30mm

That means the final reading of the micrometer screw gauge is 2.30mm.
