What is the reason for a camel walking faster than a donkey

Camels have longer legs and bigger muscles, so I'd expect that they could outrun horses on any terrain. Add to that the fact that camels have big soft pads on their feet that can walk on top of the sand instead hooves that sink into the sand, and it's not too hard to figure out why camels can run faster than horses.
