When light enters normal to a surface, it shows no deflection. This is due to the fact that <i = <r

when light enters the plane normal to the surface, <i=0 and therefore <r=0

so there is no deflection and it follows the rule which states that a beam of light passing through the normal of a plane passes through it without deflection.
