What is the reason for the dark purple colour of KMnO4? explain with diagram.

Now,the reason for the intensity of the purple colour is due to charge transfer transitions being inherently both spin selection rule and Laporte selection rule allowed transition(by using MO,it can be seen that in KMnO4,electrons with a high Oxygen lone pair i.e. 2p character are transferred to vacant 3d of Mn+7 upon absorbing photon so naturally being Laporte allowed
