Cytoplasm and Protoplasm:

The reason for using the term cytoplasm and protoplasm is that cytoplasm refers to the region which is surrounded by the cell membrane or plasma membrane whereas protoplasm is collective term given to collection of cytoplasm, nucleus and cell membrane.

No they are not same structures. It is because, cytoplasm is the site where many cell organelles such as Ribosomes, Golgi bodies, ER, ribosomes, Mitochondria, nucleus are located and it is semi-solid material. On the other hand, protoplasm contains nucleus and cytoplasm and it is thick and viscous fluid.
