forest floor is dense , moistured, and nice place to hide for predators . snake can eat lizards, and climb trees too, insects like centipede eats small insects so they remain on land in a hole to hide, leeches are parasite and drinks blood of any animal they sticks,so due to food availability on forest floor they leave there.
for more clearence- monkeys are found on trees due to availability of fruits up there.
