what is the reason that sodium is less malleable than iron? please help

sodium is a exception case of metal...metals are generally hard & are usually malleable but sodium is very soft metal it can cut with a knife...it's very soft...that's why sodium doesn't show the property of malleability on the other hand magnesium being hard show more malleability than sodium...
