The reflection coefficient of current of a transmission line shorted at the receiving end is 1 due to the following reasons :

- Reflection and refraction are the two coefficients. The coefficient of refraction is (2Z/Z+ZC) and the coefficients of reflection is (Z-ZC/Z+ZC) respectively.

- It is observed that there is always a positive polarity of transmitted or refractive current and for voltage is vice-versa.

- The voltage wave is negative in case of ZC>Z and the current wave is positive in case of Z>ZC.

- As we know that the refraction Coefficient is the increase in the length of the wave Crest by diminishing the wave height. whereas reflection Coefficient is the ratio of the amplitude of the reflected wave to the incident wave.

- So, more power is absorbed by the shorted line then any other line. This, the refraction Coefficient will be positive for the current and will be negative for the voltage.
