by dividing the speed of light in air (or vacuum) to the speed of light in the given medium we can find the refractive index of the medium.

c = speed of light in air or vacuum
v= speed of light in the given medium
hence, ref. index
μ = (3×10^8)÷(2×10^8)
μ = 1.5
