What is the relation between boiling point and dipole moment

When a substance with strong dipole-dipole attraction is heated, a certain amount of heat has to be utilized to overcome the intermolecular attractive forces between the molecules, before it starts to boil or melt. Naturally, such a substance will have a higher meltingor boiling point than one which is less polar.
