While calculating the relative density of a substance from its density (or density from its relative density ), we note that
1: In cgs system density of water is 1 g/cm3 so relative density of a substance is equals to its numerical value of density of that substance. thus
RD = density in g/cm3
2: similarly in si system
RD × 1000 = density in kg/m3
