what is the relation between economic growth and poverty reduction

during a natural calamity as u know there is a total reduction of the food grains ...as the production of food grains decreases...the prices go up making it not affordable for the poor to buy...so as there is growth in the economy the poverty is also reduces ....so thats the relation...
