Electric Field Intensity

It is defined for any point of electric field and is defined as force experienced by a unit positive charge placed at that point of electric field. It is simply force per unit charge i.e. E= F/q

Its S.I. unit is N/C

Potential Gradient

It is defined as the rate of change of potential with respect to distance. It is represented as dV/dr.

Its S.I. unit is V/m.

Relation between Electric Field Intensity and Potential Gradient

\pink{\boxed{\bf{\vec{E}=-\dfrac{dV}{\vec{dr}}}}}

Here, negative sign represents that direction of electric field is that in which the rate of decrease of potential is maximum.
