Threshold frequency is defined as the minimum frequency of incident light which can cause photo electric emission i.e. this frequency is just able to eject electrons with out giving them additional energy.Minimum amount of energy which is necessary to start photo electric emission is called Work Function.

hope it will help u

The relation between work function and threshold frequency is E = hf₀

Where E is the work function
           h is the Planck's constant
           f₀ is the threshold frequency

  • The threshold frequency is the minimum frequency of the incident photons required to eject electrons from the metal surface.
  • The threshold frequency is independent of the intensity of the light.
  • The work function is the minimum amount of energy required to remove an electron from the surface of a metal.
