hello

the capacity of an atom of an element to from chemical bonds is known as it's valency.

2nd is : Electro valency, the number of an element lost or gained by one atom of an element to achieve the nearest inert gas electron configuration is known as electro valency. ...

Thank u

Electronic configuration means the distribution of electrons in shells

Valency means the tendency of elements to give/ take/ share electrons

Eg: Sodium(Na)

Its atomic number is (3)

so electronic configuration is (2,1)

And the electron in outermost shell is 1 so the valency is 1

So Sodium gives 1 electron and becomes stable with 2 electrons and the shell becomes complete

Explaination

Atoms of an element like to have a complete octet of electrons in their valence shell . When orbits are complete then element has stable configuration.
