A meiocyte is a type of cell that differentiates into gamete by the process known as meiosis. Through meiosis, the diploid meiocyte divides into four genetically different haploid gametes. Meiocytes are always diploid and contain 23 pairs of chromosome and gametes are haploid contain only 23 chromosome.
