Since ancient times India's contact with the world have been more ancient with the routes than the maritime contacts. Mountains in the north provided passages to ancient travelers but the oceans restricted the contacts for a longer period of time. Routes helped in exchange of ideas of upnishads, Ramayna, etc and also with the help of it only Indian numerals, decimal system was able to reach other parts of world. Spices, muslin and other merchandice were taken from India only to other parts of the world.Architectural styles of dome, greek scupture and menerets from west asia can even be seen today in many parts of our country
