Solution:-

5x² - 3x - 1 is divided by (2x + 1 )

Take 2x + 1 = 0

=> 2x + 1 = 0

=> 2x = - 1

=> x = - 1 / 2

Now put the value of x on given polynomial

=> 5x² - 3x - 1

 \to \bf \: 5 \times ( \frac{ - 1}{2} ) - 3 \times  \frac{ - 1}{2}  \:  - 1

 \to \bf \:  \frac{ - 5}{2}  +  \frac{3}{2}  - 1

Take lcm= 2

 \to \bf \frac{ - 5 + 3 - 2}{2}

 \to \bf \:  \frac{ - 7 + 3}{2}

 \to \frac{ - 4}{2}

 \implies \:  - 2

Answer:- remainder = - 2
