A chemical formula shows the chemical composition of a molecule. All element has its their own symbol. The periodic table contain element and their symbols in which first two letters or first letter of the element's name are present. Chemical symbol with two letters in which the first letter is capital and the second letter is in lower case. For eg: the symbol Bi represents bismuth. The position of the no.s in chemical formula provide information about the compound or element. The number subscript or preceding an element symbol  shows how many atoms or molecules are present. If no no. appear before the symbol then it means there is one atom or molecule.

For eg: C+2O? ,here the no. 2 preceding the symbol oxygen represent that 2 oxygen atoms are present in the reaction and the subscript 2 following the symbol of oxygen represent 2 oxygen i.e., dioxide and no subscript is present in the carbon symbol  says that one carbon atom is present. Some complex molecules like nitrate ion are enclosed in parenthesis if more compound or element are present in the formula and the subscript will placed outside the parenthesis which is closed. For eg: Mg, here the compound has one magnesium atom and two nitrate molecules.

Here is your answer,

=================================================

write the names of the elements in the order listed in the formula.

Use prefixes to indicate the number of each atom.

End the name of the second element with -ide.

To write the formula of a binary molecular compound, use the prefixes to determine the subscript of each element.
