In case you haven’t heard, Samsung and LG unveiled a 8K (7680 x 4320 pixels) super high resolution television during the CES 2016 in Las Vegas. Before that, Canon announced that it’s developing an 8K camera.

That’s more than 33,000 megapixels!

Given all these innovations in visual technology, how does our built-in “image-capture” device (.i.e. our eyes) compare?

THE COMPUATION

According to Dr. Roger Clark, a digital and film imaging professional, who is also involved in several outer space imaging NASA projects, the resolution of the human eye is approximately 576 megapixels—which is a conservative estimate because this only pegs the viewing angle at 120 degrees, and the human eye actually spans a bigger field of view of 180 degrees.
