Answer:

Earthquakes are caused by a sudden release of stress along faults in the earth's crust. The continuous motion of tectonic plates causes a steady build-up of pressure in the rock strata on both sides of a fault until the stress is sufficiently great that it is released in a sudden, jerky movement.

Answer

Earthquakes are caused due to sudden tectonic movements in the earth’s crust. When the tectonic plates slide over one another, there is a cause of orogeny which results in earthquakes and volcanoes. These disturbances cause vibrations that spread in all directions. As there is a relative motion of these plates, there is stress built up, which breaks by releasing the stored energy known as shock waves.

Explanation

The focus on an earthquake is where the movement of rock occurs. Seismic waves radiate outward from the focus which causes movement on Earth's surface. The first point on the surface where Seismic waves hit is called the Epicenter of the earthquake.

I hope this helps you
