Retina: It is the innermost layer which is sensitive to light. it contains two types of sense cells called rods and cones. Rods are sensitive to dim light and contains a pigment called rhodopsin or visual purple. Cones are sensitive to bright light and contain a pigment called iodopsin. Rods do not respond to colour while cones are responsible for colour vision.
