They secrete gastric juice also contain small amount of gastric amylase but it's action is inhibited by the highly acidic condition. The stomach store food for 4-5 hours. The food mixed throughly with the gastric juice of the stomach by the churning movement of the muscles of the stomach which is called chyme.
