  1. Acid in our stomach (hcl) provides acidic medium to pepsins which them activate them to pepsinogen for digestion of protein
  2. It also kills the bacteria which reaches our stomach..

HCl secreted in the stomach activates the inactive protein digesting enzymes- prorenin and pepsinogen into renin and pepsin respectively by providing them acidic pH
