Acids and bases are realy very important in different digestion processes
ACIDS >
when we swallow the food it goes through the oesophagus by peritatic movement to the stomach , the stomach is present at left of the abdomen
the food is further digested in the stomach . the food is then churned for 3 to 4 hours during this time food breakdown into smaller pieces and form semi - solid paste the stomach contain three glands present in the wall which secretes gastric juice which contain :-
1> hydrochloric acid - making the entire medium of stomach acidic and mainly this is needed for the stimulation of pepsin enzyme .
2> pepsin enzyme - it catalyses the digestion of proteins  . it starts breaking of food into smaller pieces . please note it only works in the acidic medium .
3> mucus -as we all know that hydrochloric acid is harmful to skin to prevent it mucus provide an inner lining to prevent our stomach .
BACIS >
the remaining digestion takes place in the small intestine , it recievs the secretion of two glands liver and pancreas .
LIVER - liver secrets bile it is greenish in color it is stored in ball gladder . now this is the substance which makes or nutrelizes the acidic food coming from the stomach  which emulsify or break the lipids present in food .
this is essential for further digestion
AFER THIS MANY PROCESSES TAKES PLACE ......
