In a reflex action only three main things are involved. They are :

Spinal cord, Receptor and Effector.

Receptor is the place in which an organ having receptors receives the stimulus. The next thing that occurs in this reflex arc is the information travels to the spinal cord ( Central Nervous System ) through the motor neuron. From there a neuron just passes on the information to brain.

But since passing on information takes some time, the spinal cord quickly takes action by sending a message to the effector which is mostly the muscle cell near the receptor. After getting the message from Spinal cord, the effector takes action and is thus reflex action comes to an end.

The role of Brain in this action is nothing. The brain is just informed about the reflex action passing through and the action taken by the effector. Since traveling of information from Spinal cord to Brain takes a lot of time.
