what is the role of breathing in aquatic organisms much faster than in Terrestrial organisms

Because they have specialised organs for breathing like gills ,moist skin &etc. compared to terrestrial animals because they have lungs & spiracles

<b>Terrestrial animals can breathe the oxygen in the atmosphere, but animals that live in water need to use the oxygen dissolved in water. The amount of dissolved oxygen in water is fairly low compared to the amount of oxygen in the air. So the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much than faster than Terristrial animals.
