Most neurons have multiple dendrites, which extend out-ward from the cell body and are specialized to receive chemical signals from the axon termini of other neurons. Dendrites convert these signals into small electric impulses and transmit them inward, in the direction of the cell body.

The role of dendrites  to  receive synaptic inputs from axons .

Explanation:

These are the short processes  they receive using pulses and cell bodies. They have the same same structure in axons . But they are smaller than axons. In motor neurons , dendrites shape a portion of neural  connections ; and in sensory neurons , they act as tangible receptors and responds  to a particular stimulation.  Nerve cells ( neurons) have a wide process  called dendrites. These represent a large area of neurons . They receive many signs of other neurons and receive them in the cellular body, treat and include special proteins that deliver  to the cell body.
