What is the role of diaphragm in human respiration

Diaphragm increases the volume of chest cavity by flattening during inhalation and the pressure inside the chest cavity decreases thus forcing the o2 inside.during exhalation it again become some shaped and volume of chest cavity decreases and pressure increases thus forcing co2 outside

The diaphragm separates the thoracic cavity, containing the heart and lungs, from the abdominal cavity and performs an important function in respiration: as the diaphragm contracts, the volume of the thoracic cavity increases and air is drawn into the lungs
