Role of epidermis in plants:-

.) It protects the underlying cells and tissues.

.) In plants living in very dry habitats, it becomes thick and prevents water loss.

.) Leaf epidermis contains pores called stomata which help in the exchange of gases and transpiration.

.) Epidermal cells of the roots help in the absorption of water.
