Epidermis in plants helps in
1.supporting its internal structure
2.some dicots also have multicellular trichomes which are secretory in nature and help in plant growth by secereting metabolic compounds.
3.helps prevent water loss
4.regulates gaseous exchange
5. In roots they help in absorption of water and mineral nutrients.
