The Epiglottis is a flap like structure in the junction of larynx and oeshophagus. It is located near the superior end of larynx in throat. If u have read in physics chapter Electricity, u must have read About the role of Switch in an Electric circuit. In the digestive system , the Role of Epiglottis is somewhat similar. It acts as a Switch between the larynx and oeshphagus(food pipe) to prevent the entering of food inside wind pipe. This will permit air to pass into wind pipe and food into food pipe.
